The Staff family originally immigrated to Canada from Lincolnshire England in the late 1700s. This property at 3210 Staff Avenue was acquired by Robert Staff and has remained in the Staff family for over 200 years. Through each generation, the dream of owning and operating a winery existed. Today, the dream has come into reality. The small, quality oriented winery produces only VQA wines from grapes grown on the property. The range includes enticing, vibrant white wines; fresh, intriguing reds; luscious traditional sparklings and decadent Icewines.

Sheltered from the stronger prevailing southwesterly winds by the Niagara Escarpment, and enjoying lake breezes reflected by the escarpment ridge, the bench land micro climate is well moderated throughout the year. With the higher elevation, temperatures warm gradually in the spring, encouraging later bud-burst and avoiding risks of frost. In the fall, the escarpment slopes trap warm lake air and allow for an extended season for grape maturation.
