Introducing Bruliam Wines: Taste with Rockstar Female Winemaker Kerith Overstreet

Kerith Overstreet is a triple-threat: winemaker, former medical doctor, and mom to three kids. Her final baby, Bruliam Wines, honors her first three: “Bruno, Lily and Amelia.”

There is no shortage of quality wines in Northern California. That said, every now and then I will discover a new, local wine that knocks my sock off. This happened a few weekends ago at my go-to wine bar in Petaluma. I tried a Bruliam Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot and it was one of the most surprising, enticing, exotic pinots I've had in recent years.

I immediately started to investigate Bruliam wines and found the winemaker to be as interesting as her wines. After completing medical school (U. of Rochester), residency, and two fellowships (UCSD), Kerith Overstreet thought winemaking sounded more fun, which it is. So, she enrolled at UC Davis to study enology and catapulted into the 2008 harvest.

Starting with a single barrel, Kerith has grown Bruliam Wines to about 1000 cases a year (still tiny production), including single vineyard Pinot Noir with a smidgen of Rockpile Zinfandel. And, in 2017, she added a Chardonnay from the famous Charles Heintz Vineyard near the town of Occidental.

Cherishing her grower relationships, Kerith has aligned herself with top vineyards and growers to supply her fruit. Think of the very best and most sought after vineyards in Sonoma County… that’s who is supplying the fruit for Bruliam wines. Farming is very intensive and attentive. Yields are minimized for the highest quality.

We are thrilled to be working with Bruliam to introduce Kerith’s incredible wines to the purple cork community. The tasting set includes her 2019 Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay and 2018 Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir. Get your taste buds ready and reach out to schedule an exclusive Bruliam Wines tasting and virtual cellar tour with Kerith herself.

Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Bruliam’s oldest vineyard partner, arguably among the best Sonoma County vineyards.
