Beginning of our story

Do you like wine? Do you enjoy catching up with your friends and family? You're in the right place!

To say hi, let's get some introductions out of the way. My name is Kelly, a food & wine loving management consultant turned corporate/SaaS marketer. Five years ago, I fell head over heels for a guy named Thom who invests in tech and has more recently caught the wine and cooking bug. You'll get to meet him soon. Before covid, we used to travel the world seeking out experiences, from chai making in India to tapas hopping in Barcelona to running on the Cartagena wall.

Even though our international adventures are on pause, we've been filling our weekends with virtual chats and tastings...which led us to think, there has to be a better way to recreate the experience of the tasting room. Less academic, more interactive, more fun. Enter purple cork: the new way to hang out with your friends and family over a bottle of wine, or two, virtually.

Coming from the world of marketing, I appreciate that there is a LOT of content out there these days. Too much content. You have my word to make this blog worth your attention. (I know, it's short! Mine is too.).

Think of this blog as your place to learn a little bit more about the winemakers you'll be meeting on Zoom. Plus we'll throw in some tips on how to taste like a pro, and more as we go.

Next up? We've been working to fill the calendar with a special lineup of winemakers and wines, with a refreshing virtual tasting format (cool videos, music, breakout rooms, etc). After all, wine is meant to be delicious, and it's meant to be fun. Much more to come soon. Thanks for all of your early support as we build this exciting business from the ground up.
